Introduction

Chemistry is the science of change. It's a discipline that has changed over time. From Alchemy to Buckyball, from Dalton's atomic model to the modern modified Bohr model with electrons as wavelengths, much has changed.

Instead of covering the basic concepts of chemistry, as others have set out to do, this blog will cover something else:
The change of chemistry over time.

Chemistry is fun, but one thing I've found hard to find is a simple, easy-to-read history of the science. There are some publications, and a few sites with timetables. But none of this satisfies the geek inside me.

Inside me, there is a geek that loves geeky science jokes. Like,

What do chemists call a benzene ring with iron atoms replacing the carbon atoms?
A ferrous wheel!
         Fe - Fe
         / \
       Fe Fe
         \ /
Fe - Fe

and

Ect.

Aside from this periodic table and the Cartoon Guide to Chemistry, there aren't many available comic resources. Yes, a few, but overall? Not near enough.

On this blog is the history of Chemistry, told in the style of a graphic novel. In addition, there will be a few other available resources: IR spectrums, links to helpful sites about chemistry, and sources for the additional study of history topics.

This will be updated every couple weeks through late spring, and after that, once the guide is completed, it will remain archived, unless any particularly interesting developments are made (or bad jokes are found).

And, begin!
